I couldn’t figure out the problem but on one of my blogs that I recently updated, I couldn’t get the upload/insert function to work properly. Instead of opening up the upload/insert dialog over the edit page, wp-admin went to an entirely different page, navigating away from my edit page to the upload/insert form.

After crafty troubleshooting by deactivating all my plugins & reactivating one by one I found that WP-Amazon was the culprit. Hope the developers fix the issue quickly — I like that plugin. So if you’re having trouble with “Coltrane,” check your plugins!

Just watch this spot for the official announcement for the new blog. If there’s German where there should be English, I hope that my readers will be forgiving and just gently point out the errors…

All is well, really… well, besides being knocked on my arse since last Friday by this stinkin’ virus. I’m working on a new web project for a new client, I’m developing a new class called “Visual Journaling for the Intimidated,” which will be an in-person class at first and will be online in a while. I’m working on a new blog and watching the hubster play the stock market to earn us some dough for our trip to Greece in September. So far so good!

Jing is free & only saves in SWF which can be problematic. It links up with Screencast.com, a paid service to store and share slideshows & such. I like Jing’s no-frills interface and cross-platform-ness but I really dislike the file format and the fact that they seem to be in bed with Screencast.

The other screen capture program that looks promising (and is only $9 until July 4th 2008), is Sequence by a French company called App4Mac. It’s still in Beta but at $9 it’s a steal. It’s crashed on my mac a couple times and the way to end your recording isn’t as intuitive as I’d like but it works & works well – and saves as a Quicktime Movie so you can edit it in iMovie.

Black Cover is a blog that covers (haha) notebooks with black covers – or in their words “the perfect little black notebook.” They have an unhealthy obsession with finding the perfect combination of black cover & good paper that anyone who loves writing stuff down the old fashioned way will find oddly appealing.

Another notebook company called Field Notes is a relative newcomer. They offer a three-pack of soft-covered squared memo books with kraft paper covers. They look like a perfect memo book for everyday note-taking. As soon as I have some spare cash, I may pick up a set.

Journalismo‘s tagline “Back to Analog” is sort of like my store’s tagline, which is one of the reasons I’m linking to it today. This is another blog with reviews of notebooks and pens but also has some interesting stories about authors and the writing habit. Great read.
