Starting on my Goals/Resolutions
I hate resolutions. So I made some this year. I’ve got some heavy-duty accountability to make sure I’m making progress: Mom. Although she’s not close, she & I discussed the things that would probably be best for me to start on this year – things I’ve been thinking about on my own before the “Mom-talk” during my Christmas vacation. So to further ensure my success, I’ve written my ‘resolutions’ in my journal, they’re on my whiteboard at home, I have a weekly moleskine planner to make sure I write down my progress, and my goal is to write down one thing each day that I’ve done to accomplish my resolutions. So here they are:
- Get back in touch with my Greek heritage (I’m feeling extremely white-breadish lately)
- Be healthy
- Move my career towards writing
So far I’ve:
- Set up my home iconostasis – I still need to get a few things for that, but it’s got the requisite icons & our stefana (our wedding crowns) with my orthodox prayer book & candle.
- Started cooking more often, incorporating more veggies (and trying to cook more “Greek”) & I joined the health club my company is paying for & I’ve started going. I’m attempting the Couch to 5K challenge.
- Picked up books on writing, thought about writing, chastised myself for not writing, done everything BUT write. Yes, I need to work on this one.
My previous three goals I’ve posted still stand.
Looks like I’ve got a busy year ahead of me – but change is good, right?
